My name is Reid Taylor, and I have been a speech-language pathologist since 1977. Awarded the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), I have had a great deal of experience working with children and adults who have speech and language needs.
After I completed my speech-language therapy training, I immediately began working in a school for children with disabilities. I later began teaching university courses in special education, with my specialty being pediatric communication disorders.
In the 1980s, I developed a keen interest in working with professionals who need intense coaching to help them improve their American English pronunciation. I received specialized training in accent modification from some of the best known practitioners of accent modification, and I continue to expand my knowledge base in this exciting area of communication development. Although I continued working within the school and university settings, I simultaneously developed the necessary skills for working as a corporate speech-language pathologist, with an emphasis on accent modification. Even today, as I continue to work with children who have speech-language needs, I use my private practice to offer accent coaching to busy professionals within the medical, educational, technical, math and science disciplines. I love helping adults modify their foreign/regional accents so they can speak with a more American English accent.
